Planning a family night is perfect for building relationships and strengthening bonds. A schedule of school, work, and other activities can get in the way of bonding time, so it is important to take the time to catch up with your loved ones. In fact, you may want to set aside at least one night a week for a few hours of family fun. Start planning your family night with these awesome, fun-filled activities that everyone can enjoy.
Arts and Crafts
From paper creations to DIY storage solutions, you can find a project for everyone. You may want to create seasonal decorations for your home, or maybe you want to fix up an old dresser for the playroom. A fun craft or DIY project is a great excuse for everyone to roll up their sleeves and let their creativity do the talking.
Baking a Treat
Why not get everyone into the kitchen to bake a treat? Cookies, cupcakes and brownies are great options for teaching children to follow a recipe. If you are looking for a more simple recipe for the first baking session, consider Rice Krispie Treats. When you are finished, everyone can enjoy a tasty after-dinner treat.
Board Games Board games are perfect for families of all ages, from Monopoly to Scrabble. Simon and Twister can offer more of a challenge, while Uno and Skip-Bo are good ideas for card games. If you feel a video game is a better option for your family, consider a game everyone can play together, such as Family Feud or Wii Sports.
Build a Fort A hit with younger children, you can never go wrong with building a fort. Pillows, sheets, couch cushions and chairs all create the perfect getaway for your family. Build a traditional fort with just one section or see how many sections you can build together. Crawl inside the fort to enjoy a snack, tell jokes and catch up with your family.
Dance Party Why not get everyone moving with a dance party on family night? Put together a playlist of everyone's favorite songs, pick up some glow sticks and create enough space to dance. You can even take part in games such as “Musical Chairs” and “Freeze Dance.” What a fun way to keep everyone active while spending time together!
Movie Night Of course, you can never go wrong with a family movie night. Between streaming services and DVDs, it is easy to find a movie the whole family can enjoy. Use pillows and blankets to create a comfy spot for everyone, and do not forget the snacks, popcorn and beverages. If you own a DVD projector and screen, you can take your movie night to the backyard.
Family night is a great way to get everyone together for an evening of fun. It gives you the chance to catch up with your family while unwinding after a long day. If you keep the above activities in mind, every family night is sure to be a hit with your loved ones.
